Charis at Work.....Paint and Resin
Manufacture
A process where a vacuum can cause foaming is in paint production where a vacuum is used to extract
solvent. A well known UK based company was experiencing considerable disruption
to their process due to foam until a Charis Foam
Control system was fitted. On sensing foam the system closed the
vacuum valve and injected controlled amounts of nitrogen to the process. This
restored the stability of the process and provided considerable cost savings in
lost production time and anti-foaming treatment.
Charis designed a special high-sensitivity foam sensor
to deal with a problem caused by a gas stripping process used in resin
manufacture. The nature of the foam was such that it proved very
difficult to measure and it needed Charis expertise to design the high
sensitivity system to control the problem.
